What Can the Cake Sketch Book Do for YOU?

Cake Sketch Book

As a home baker, your creations are personal. A two-tiered cake covered in candles spreads cheer at the birthday party across the street, black-and-white cupcakes represent victory after the elementary school soccer game, and a little congratulatory cake makes the perfect gift when it appears on a new mother’s front porch. You have plenty of advantages in today’s local treat market—you’re creative, insightful, a community member with purpose and an awesome reputation.

What you may be missing, however, are the resources of larger organizations, especially in your discussions with prospective customers. You don’t have a graphic designer or an artist waiting in your garage, prepared to draw up the potential custom cake or cupcake spread like the flashy images on competitive baking shows. You may have trouble envisioning and planning your own ideas too, especially when it comes to intricate decorations. But I have good news—with this Cake Sketch Book, those days of racking your memory and struggling to execute a design are over!

Within the pages of this guide, you will find the tools you need to assemble the cakes of your imagination and showcase your talent to your potential customers before they order. As your clients review your sketches, the picture of their beautiful future cake will emerge clearer and clearer in their minds. These images may help your customers decide between pink or purple frosting in the short term, but the effect of your preparation travels far beyond those decisions. By having a clear picture of the end result, they will be confident in your skills and organization. Your customers will rest assured knowing your cake will be the beautiful highlight of their event.

Is sketching really necessary?

Is this really worth $15?

If you make cakes frequently, you will use these templates and note sheets over and over again. They will prove invaluable to your small business and/or to your personal development as a baker.

Do I need to be an artist?

No!  I’m terrible with a colored pencils, but you just need to be able to color in the lines and draw basic shapes.  Use a big circle to indicate flowers, a square for the cake topper, etc.  As long as you can communicate your design, this sketch book will be useful.

About Me

Colleen decorating cupcakes profile

Hi!  I’m Colleen, the baker and blogger behind Bakes & Blunders.  In 2018, I started seriously pursuing my passion for baking.  After my experience with The Great American Baking Show casting process, I got even more serious about baking and opened my little home bakery.

With every cake I created, I thought up of 5 more designs to try.  But I could never remember them for the next cake, so I started drawing tiny little sketches that looked worse than my 6 year old’s drawings.  I knew I needed a standard base to begin my cake designs.

So I created a handful of cake templates.  As I grew my network of other talented bakers and cakers, I realized that other home bakers would benefit from these templates as much as I have!

I know that this Cake Sketch Book is going to make your cake design process run smoother and I’m so excited for you to get started using it today!
