Desserts for Days

Baking can be tough. But it can also be fun! And the best part about baking is sharing your treats with the people you love. These recipes are perfect for holidays, birthdays, or just because it’s Saturday and your sweet tooth is calling for chocolate…

Before you dive in, let me just give you a heads up. Some of these recipes are written in volume measurements (cups) and some are written by weight (ounce or gram). There is a conversion chart, but it is best to follow the recipes as written.

When I first started baking, I only saw recipes written by volume, so it’s all I knew. But over time, I learned how much better and easier it is to use a recipe that uses weight measurements. Yet, for some reason, some of my recipes just never made the switch.

If you don’t have an electric food scale, you definitely need to invest in one. They are cheap and will make baking so much easier!

Good luck choosing which recipe to try first!  Are the holidays around the corner? Maybe you’re going to a family picnic?  No matter the occasion, there’s a recipe in this cookbook.

And don’t worry if you’re just a casual baker.  At the end of the book, there are links to additional tips and tools to make sure you can bake with confidence.

Happy Baking!

FAQs

Are the recipes written in cups?

In some of the recipes, the ingredients are listed by volume (cups), in others the ingredients are listed by weight.  And some recipes have both options.  As long as you have a kitchen scale and measuring cups, you can bake each of these recipes!  There is a measurement conversion chart, but it is best to follow the recipe as written.

What skill level do I need to be?

The majority of these desserts are easy enough for even a beginner baker to tackle with confidence.  But if you’re wanting to try something new, like macarons, or biscotti, I’ve got you covered.

Are these all brand new recipes?

Nope.  There are 9 (out of 22 recipes) that you can also find on Bakes & Blunders.  They made it into Desserts for Days because they were hits on the blog and/ or they are family recipes that are close to my heart.

What Kitchen Equipment do I need?

For 90% of these recipes, all you need are the most basic baking tools, but I also suggest having an electric scale and a candy thermometer.  If you’d like to adapt the cupcake or cake recipes to a different size pan, you’ll find a handy Bake Times by Pan Size Chart in the Resource Library.

How easily can I find the ingredients for these recipes?

These recipes mostly use very common baking ingredients.  A most obscure ingredients are freeze dried fruit or dried figs.  If you are unable to find these in your local stores, they are easy to find online.

What type of recipes are in Desserts for days?

There are 9 cookie recipes, 3 fudge recipes, 5 cake/ cupcakes/ frosting recipes, and 5 other dessert recipes.

About Me

Colleen decorating cupcakes profile

Hi!  I’m Colleen, the baker and blogger behind Bakes & Blunders.  In 2018, I started seriously pursuing my passion for baking.  After my experience with The Great American Baking Show casting process, I got even more serious about baking and opened my little home bakery.

Over the years, I’ve been slowly compiling a collection of recipes that just never made it to the blog, have been in my family for years, or that I just love!  And I’ve finally finished this little cookbook and get to share it with you.

Baking is like breathing for me.  I couldn’t stop even if I tried!  And it makes me so happy to share my passion with others!

I know that you are going to love these recipes and I can’t wait for you to discover something new in this cookbook.
