¼cupmilk2 oz
1Tbspsugar
½tspvanilla
¼tspcinnamon
¾cuppancake mix3 oz
Thick sliced bread
Kahlua Whipped Cream
1cupheavy whipping cream8 fl oz
1TbspKahlua
2Tbspspowdered sugarsifted
Instructions
French Toast
Optional step: toast the bread in the oven at 350℉ for 2 minutes per side. This will dry out the bread and help it absorb the egg mixture better.
In a medium bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
Sift in the pancake mix and beat on low until just combined. The mixture will be a bit lumpy.
Pour the batter into a shallow dish. Place a slice of bread into the batter and let it sit for about 5-10 seconds. Flip, gently shaking off any excess, and let the other sides soak for 5- 10 seconds.
Cook slices in a frying pan over medium- low heat for 3-4 minutes per side. Do not press the slices as they cook.
Kahlua Whipped Cream
Place cream, Kahlua, and powdered sugar in a chilled bowl. Whip on low to combine, then bump the speed to medium. Continue to whip until thick and holds soft peaks. You can whip until slightly firmer, if you prefer. Just be careful not to over whip.
Notes
Brioche or Texas toast make great French toast.
You will get about 8- 10 slices out of this recipe. It depends on how much batter the slices soak up. A quick dip is all they need!
