Favorite Recipes Roundup: Tried and True Favorites!
It’s always handy to have a short list of AMAZING recipes on hand. Holidays coming up? Special occasion? Just want something tasty? That’s what this list is all about. Here I have 10 recipes that I have made, devoured, and enjoyed over the years. These favorite recipes of mine range from savory to sweet and you are sure to find something to love.
Pumpkin Pie and Pie Crust by Bakes and Blunders
Let’s get things started with one of my own recipes! This pie crust has been in my family for 4 generations, with each person adding their own personal touches. It’s a great basic pie crust to have on hand. But pie crust isn’t enough to cut it for this roundup, so I’m including this crazy creamy pumpkin pie to fill it with! I have never had a pumpkin pie that was this dreamy and smooth. This post has a ton of tips and tricks to achieve the best pumpkin pie!
Oreo Cream Cheese Frosting by Craving Some Creativity
I made this frosting to cover a chocolate cake (the same one I used in my Vegan Chocolate Cupcakes!) one time. Such a good frosting! Who doesn’t love the delicious combination of chocolate cookies and sweet cream? If you’re looking for a cookies n’ cream style frosting, this is the recipe for you! Since you use real Oreos to make this, the flavor is amazing and authentic.
Vegan Chocolate Cupcakes with Strawberry Frosting by Bakes and Blunders
You don’t have to be a vegan to enjoy these delicious chocolate cupcakes! The strawberry coconut cream frosting has the tart and sweet combination of a fresh strawberry with a fraction of the sugar of a regular strawberry buttercream. Plus they just look beautiful with the natural pink color and gold sprinkles! This is one of my favorite recipes on Bakes and Blunders, mostly because the frosting is low sugar and just a little bit tart.
Fresh Raspberry Buttercream by Her Cup of Joy

I’ve made this raspberry frosting several times and I just love it! It’s so fresh tasting and the marshmallow fluff gives the final product a smooth, silky texture. No one likes artificial flavors, they just don’t taste that great, but sometimes it’s all you’ve got. For this recipe, you make your own raspberry puree and it tastes divine. This frosting always receives a ton of compliments!
The Best Pineapple Upside Down Cake by Averie Cooks
I’ve made this cake several times for Josh’s uncle’s birthday and I always get rave reviews. (In fact, this cake was just recently requested.) It’s a very easy cake to make, but it looks so beautiful! I love how Averie arranged the pineapples in the fan pattern instead of the classic circles. On top of being beautiful, it’s moist and full of flavor without being too sweet.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip Cookies by Bakes and Blunders
Who doesn’t love chocolate and peanut butter in a tasty treat? Unfortunately, my son, but we’ll fix that in time. These chocolate cookies are super chewy and studded with sweet peanut butter chips. My husband has been loving on these bad boys for nearly a decade, and it’s taken me that long to get the recipe right! These are the perfect cookie for all you Reese’s lovers out there.
Fresh Pear Bread by Bakerette
Quick breads are amazing and so versatile! You can go sweet or savory, but this is one of my favorite recipes because I find the flavor to be so unique. Pear is a very light and delicate flavor, but it still manages to be distinct in this recipe. The loaf is slightly sweet, tender, and so moist. You’ll love this with breakfast or just as a snack.
Shrimp and Grits with a Twist by Bakes and Blunders
This was one of the first recipes I ever shared on Bakes and Blunders. Despite my assertions that Maryland is not part of the South, I love shrimp and grits. That love inspired me to make a savory, cheesy cornbread waffle and load it up with Cajun seasoned shrimp and peppers. Of course, you have to top it off with even more cheese. While these may not satisfy a true craving for shrimp and grits, you will love having this savory waffle for dinner!
Mini Dutch Babies by Bakes and Blunders
These mini puffed pancakes are sure to be one of your new favorite recipes! They are so quick to make and you probably already have everything you need. The orange zest is optional, but it really adds such amazing flavor. One of my favorite parts about these Mini Dutch Babies is the texture. They puff up beautifully in the oven and collapse when you take them out, making a crater perfect for adding the filling of your choice. The sides are light and fluffy while the bottom is tender and chewy.
No- Bake Boston Cream Pie Strata from The Kitchn*
I highly recommend saving this recipe! It’s so convenient to have a no- bake dessert in your repertoire and this is the perfect dessert to bring to a summer gathering. This is one of my favorite recipes because you get to make it a day in advance! I’m not usually a big fan of no- bake recipes, but the texture of this starta is so silky smooth, it’s addicting. You know I love some dark cocoa, so that’s what I used in the chocolate frosting.

Me and my kids were just talking about Thanksgiving desserts this year, (yes we plan Thanksgiving all year round)! Anyway- pumpkin pie was on the list this year! Bookmarking to come back to this one!

I also plan holiday meals year round because I love days devoted to food! That pumpkin pie recipe has a few extra steps, but it was seriously the smoothest, tastiest pumpkin pie I’ve ever had.
